The 2017 Scotiabank INTERCOL Athletic Championship, like in previous years, is an extremely exciting, spirited and rewarding activity that brings together people of all ages and from all walks of life throughout the entire tri-island state. The organising committee of the Grenada Secondary Schools Games Association (GSSGA) warmly welcomes all our patrons to the 52nd INTERCOL Athletic Games.
Scotiabank, we salute you for your sterling contribution, your unwavering support and your commitment for the thirty-seven (37) years of sponsorship of the games.
We express our deep appreciation and thanks to the Ministry of Sports, Principals, Teachers, Technical Committee, Other Officials and all those who have contributed to making this event a reality.
As our athletes and coaches work together, experiencing that spirit of community, team work, healthy competition and commitment to the task, the opportunity for growth, self-discipline and character building is created.
To our athletes, as you display your skills and talents, we urge you to do so in the true spirit of sportsmanship. Remember that there are excellent opportunities for young people who possess a blend of athletic and academic talents.
We call on our students to display a higher level of discipline, respect and dignity as they cheer their teams.
To you our distinguished guests and patrons, your presence and support are highly appreciated.
Most importantly, we commit this day to God. We thank God for his graces, guidance, blessings and protection on all who organise, participate and witness these games. We pray for fine weather as we celebrate the talents of all those involved.
As Principals of Secondary Schools, we remain committed to organising and managing this competitive, positive and enjoyable sports meet. We continue to emphasize the importance of athletics in enabling students to discover and develop multiple skills and abilities and to use their talent for the glory of God, and for the development of our schools and our nation.
Once again, we salute our athletes and their coaches, our sponsors, our patrons, all secondary schools and all those who have contributed to making the games a reality. This is a time of excitement, joy, camaraderie and keen clean competition.
Welcome again to everyone.
